Temperature-Compensated In-Line Surface Blowdown
VIRA BS5-T is an automatic surface blowdown system for steam boilers requiring conductivity measurement outside the boiler. It is suitable where direct probe installation in the boiler is not possible or where the operator prefers to establish the measurement point on the boiler-water line.
Conductivity-Based TDS Management
The system measures boiler-water conductivity and initiates surface blowdown when the configured value is reached. Temperature compensation helps maintain reliable conductivity measurement as operating conditions change. Controlled discharge of concentrated boiler water supports dissolved-solids management, stable boiler-water quality and efficient steam generation.
High-Conductivity Alarm
In addition to automatic surface blowdown, BS5-T can provide a high-conductivity alarm when the configured limit is exceeded. This gives operators clear warning of elevated boiler-water conductivity and supports timely corrective action.
BK 5000-T Controller
The BK 5000-T controller is a 230VAC panel-mounted controller with an LCD display and four operating buttons. It provides access to conductivity setpoints, hysteresis, alarm settings and valve-control parameters. The controller has one valve control relay and one alarm relay, and supports 4–20 mA conductivity output and RS485 Modbus communication for plant integration.
BD 5300-T Probe and DG 5300 Probe Body
The BD 5300-T temperature-compensated conductivity probe is installed with the DG 5300 probe body for in-line measurement. DG 5300 is manufactured in stainless steel or carbon steel to suit the relevant line diameter and includes a 1/4" sample outlet. This arrangement provides a practical measurement solution for line-mounted boiler-water conductivity monitoring.
BKV 5400 Surface Blowdown Valve
The surface blowdown section uses the BKV 5400 control valve. Pneumatic and electric actuator options are available. The valve is offered in DN20, DN25 and DN40 sizes with PN40 pressure class. Its WCB body, metal-to-metal sealing design and integrated sample outlet beneath the valve support reliable operation in steam boiler applications.
External Measurement, Controlled Blowdown
BS5-T brings conductivity measurement and automatic surface blowdown together in an externally installed arrangement. This makes it a suitable solution for boiler rooms where accessibility, line-mounted installation or application-specific measurement positioning is important.
