Controlled Boiler-Water Quality
As steam is produced, dissolved solids become concentrated in boiler water. If these values are not managed correctly, they can contribute to carryover, deposits, corrosion and reduced steam quality. VIRA automatic blowdown systems help maintain the required boiler-water conditions through controlled discharge.
Conductivity-Based Surface Blowdown
Conductivity-based monitoring enables the system to detect when dissolved solids reach the configured limit. The controller then opens the blowdown valve as required, helping maintain the selected conductivity range while avoiding unnecessary water and energy losses.
Surface and Bottom Blowdown Solutions
VIRA solutions are available for surface blowdown, bottom blowdown and combined blowdown applications. Surface blowdown supports the control of dissolved solids in boiler water, while bottom blowdown helps discharge settled sludge and sediment from the lower part of the boiler.
Efficiency and Reliable Operation
Accurate blowdown control helps reduce fuel, water and water-treatment chemical consumption while supporting stable steam production and longer equipment service life. System configurations can be selected according to boiler capacity, operating pressure and process requirements.
