In-Line Surface Blowdown for Flexible Installation
VIRA D-BS5-T is a temperature-compensated automatic surface blowdown system for steam boilers. It is designed for applications where installing a conductivity probe directly in the boiler is not possible, impractical or not preferred. The system measures conductivity on the boiler-water line and controls surface blowdown according to the configured conductivity value.
Temperature-Compensated Conductivity Control
The system monitors boiler-water conductivity to support controlled removal of concentrated water and management of dissolved solids. Temperature compensation helps provide dependable conductivity measurement under varying operating conditions. When the configured conductivity limit is reached, the system initiates surface blowdown. A high-conductivity alarm can also be configured for additional operating safety.
D-BK 5000-T Controller
The D-BK 5000-T controller provides touchscreen-based access to conductivity setpoints, hysteresis, alarm functions and valve control. It operates with 24VDC supply and is available for DIN rail or control-panel mounting. The controller also supports 4–20 mA conductivity output and RS485 Modbus communication for integration into boiler automation and plant monitoring systems.
BD 5300-T Probe and DG 5300 Probe Body
The BD 5300-T temperature-compensated conductivity probe is installed with the DG 5300 probe body for in-line measurement. DG 5300 is manufactured in stainless steel or carbon steel to suit the relevant line diameter and includes a 1/4" sample outlet. This arrangement supports reliable contact between the probe and boiler water while allowing the measurement point to be located on the line.
BKV 5400 Surface Blowdown Valve
The surface blowdown section uses the BKV 5400 control valve. Pneumatic and electric actuator options are available. The valve is offered in DN20, DN25 and DN40 sizes with PN40 pressure class. Its WCB body, metal-to-metal sealing design and integrated sample outlet beneath the valve support reliable operation in steam boiler applications.
Controlled Boiler-Water Management
D-BS5-T provides a practical alternative for boiler installations requiring an external or line-mounted conductivity measurement point. By combining in-line measurement, temperature compensation and controlled surface blowdown, it supports stable boiler-water quality and efficient steam boiler operation.
