New-Generation Bottom Blowdown Control
The VIRA D-DB2 is designed to automate the removal of sludge, sediment and settled impurities from the lower section of steam boilers. Timed bottom blowdown helps protect boiler heat-transfer surfaces, reduce deposit-related operating problems and support more consistent boiler-water management.
D-BK 4000 Controller
D-DB2 uses the new-generation D-BK 4000 bottom blowdown controller. Operating with a 24VDC supply, the controller can be installed on a DIN rail or mounted on a control panel, providing flexibility for new boiler installations and modernisation projects.
Test and Alarm Reset Functions
The dedicated test button allows the operator to test valve operation during commissioning or routine inspection. The reset button is used to acknowledge and reset alarm conditions after the relevant issue has been checked. These functions support practical operation and troubleshooting at the boiler control panel.
BKV 4000 Pneumatic Bottom Blowdown Valve
D-DB2 is supplied with the BKV 4000 pneumatic on-off bottom blowdown valve. The valve is available in DN 25, DN 32, DN 40 and DN 50 sizes, all with a PN 40 pressure class. Its spring-return pneumatic actuator supports controlled valve closing, while the WCB body, reduced-bore construction and metal-to-metal sealing are designed for steam boiler service.
Valve Position Feedback Included
The BKV 4000 valve set includes a switch box and NAMUR solenoid valve. The switch box provides open and closed position feedback, allowing the control system to verify valve movement and monitor the actual valve position throughout the blowdown cycle.
Single-Valve Control with Multi-Valve Options
The standard D-DB2 configuration controls one bottom blowdown valve. For projects requiring coordinated blowdown from multiple boilers or points, options are available for controlling up to two or three valves from a single controller. The required arrangement is selected according to the project piping and operating requirements.
Planned Blowdown for Boiler Protection
By combining adjustable timed blowdown with valve-position monitoring, D-DB2 supports controlled removal of settled deposits without relying solely on manual operation. This helps maintain cleaner boiler surfaces, supports reliable steam generation and reduces unnecessary heat and water losses caused by uncontrolled blowdown practice.
